If you’re traveling with kids (or you’re a kid at heart), a day trip to the Bali Zoo or the nearby Bali Bird Park is a guaranteed good time.
The Bali Zoo is just 30 minutes north of Sanur and features a wide variety of animals including tropical birds, orangutans, elephants, and even a petting zoo. The animal encounters are interactive and well-organized, and it’s one of the more ethical and clean zoos on the island.
Just down the road, the Bali Bird Park is a lush sanctuary with over 1,000 exotic birds, plus a reptile section where you can meet Komodo dragons, turtles, and iguanas. It’s a great follow-up to the zoo and offers lots of educational value too.
